I had worked in the supplier side of the printing, publishing and advertising industries (now commonly referred to as ‘media’) since 1987. I built up a small graphic arts supply company, turned it into a larger software and support business, sold it and took over the management of a trade association for magazine publishers. In 2014 my media career came to an end. It was a mutual decision 🙂

So to celebrate we packed our bags for two weeks in South East Asia. This was to be a life changing experience for me.

In July 2015, Heidi and I headed to Laos where I volunteered at Vientiane International School. My role was part intern, part teacher of Business Studies to Diploma students and part web developer for the school’s new website.

A year later I was head-hunted to fill the role of Business Manager at OurPlanet International School in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, and the rest is history.
